Catherine Etmanski

Catherine is passionate about social and environmental justice and seeks to incorporate creative elements into her research and teaching. She has published about environmental praxis, teaching participatory research, and the use of arts-based methods in promoting dialogue and democracy. Her recent book is titled, "Learning and teaching community-based research: Linking pedagogy to practice" (University of Toronto Press, 2014).  Since joining Royal Roads in 2012, Catherine has served as Program Head for the MA Leadership, has supported the launch of the new MA in Global Leadership, and is leading the development of a new BA in Leadership for Sustainability. Catherine came to RRU as an instructor from the Faculty of Education and School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria. She earned her PhD from UVic in 2007 with a focus on leadership, adult education, and participatory engagement.
