School of Leadership

Our Story

Since 1996, the School of Leadership Studies at Royal Roads University has been providing relevant leadership education to scholar-practitioners from diverse sectors, disciplines, and backgrounds. We seek to harness the energy and generative thinking of our ever-growing community to create a thriving hub of leadership and learning for our alumni leaders and community.

Building on the success of our past conferences and inspired by our School mission to foster imagination, capacity, and courage in leaders, we are excited to present Leadership Conference 2020: Leading in Extraordinary Times! This year's event will be an immersive, two-day change laboratory experience, rooted in a leadership challenge that attendees bring with them. We are inviting leaders at all levels to join a hive of fellow practitioners, contribute their ideas and learn from the collective wisdom of a diverse, passionate community. This conference is designed for those who feel called to do things differently and are open to exploring new possibilities in these extraordinary times that we're leading in. The Evolution of our Leadership Conference

Leadership Conference 2013: Advancing Leadership Practice & Possibility

We hosted our very first conference as a venue to convene, reconnect, and keep leadership learning alive. It was a great success and brought together thought-leaders in the field of leadership, alumni practitioners and presenters, a number of the School's associate faculty, and other members of the RRU community.

Leadership Conference 2015: Leadership. Complex. World

Our goal was to deliver another highly relevant leadership event, comprehensively bridging scholarship and practice where delegates not only learned but contributed to the 'community of practice' event.

Leadership Conference 2017: Diversity, Creativity, and Possibility

The theme reflected the current era in Canada, where the importance of collaboration and reconciliation are increasingly recognized. The conference explored new and creative possibilities for leadership as we learn to live, work, and play together more harmoniously.
